Bøtø Nature Area
Experience Sydfalster's wild nature in the peaceful area near Bøtø, where nature's course can be observed in the wild forest and along the beautiful beach.
The deep, quiet calm
All year round, Bøtø impresses with its nature, from the crowns of the highest trees to the magnificent horizon where the sea meets the sky. Bøtø is best known for its wild forest, which offers a bounty of exploration between old trees, damp bogs and open meadows. In spring and summer, rare butterflies flutter about the forest, while wild horses and cows graze year round on the rough forest floor.
Several times a year, migratory birds can be seen on their way north or south - and just a few hundred meters from the forest a bird tower offers a closer look at rare species and a fantastic view all the way to Denmark's southernmost point, Gedser.
These beaches are made for walking ... or cycling
The wide beaches and hilly dunes at Bøtø provide the perfect opportunity to relax, with only the sound of the sea in the background. It is possible to walk or cycle along the dike all the way to Marielyst, accompanied by open vistas to the sky and impressive views of tall trees and sandy beaches.
Bøtø lies just a few kilometres south of the vibrant holiday town of Marielyst - and the small grocery shop in Lupintorvet offers a wide selection of groceries, newspapers and fresh breakfast bread. Slagter Schous sells juicy barbecue steaks, and the best Bøtø potatoes can be bought at Gårdbutikken Marielyst.
